				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong><em>Greetings, Fans of Human Rights and and Music in Zimbabwe,</em></strong><br />
Experience Music Project will host a screening of the documentary &#8220;Beatrice Mtetwa and the Rule of Law,&#8221; followed by a discussion of the film and a Concert &amp; Reception featuring Thomas Mapfumo and The Blacks Unlimited.</p>
<p>Beatrice Mtetwa is a prominent Harare attorney who has defended many members of the opposition in Zimbabwe. A discussion following the film screening will feature the film&#8217;s Director, Lorie Conway; an overview of the Rule of Law Index findings for Zimbabwe by Juan Botero, Executive Director of the WJP; the Honorable Lyna N. Sarapai, a UW School of Law Barer Fellow from Kenya who will speak to the common legal challenges that citizens face in sub-Saharan Africa; and globally-renowned musician Thomas Mapfumo, in exile from Zimbabwe.</p>
<p>Capping the evening will be a Concert &amp; Reception featuring Thomas Mapfumo and The Blacks Unlimited. Thomas Tafirenyika Mapfumo is known as &#8220;The Lion of Zimbabwe&#8221; and &#8220;Mukanya&#8221; for his immense popularity and for the political influence he wields through his music which is heard throughout the documentary.</p>

Guitarist and singer-songwriter Leni Stern recorded her 2012 CD <em>Smoke, No Fire</em> with traditional musicians in Mali, just as the political situation was being transformed in the midst of a coup and a rebellion to the north. Because of the political upheaval, Leni will be donating all proceeds of this concert to the Fabric of Life Foundation In Bamako, Mali: <a href="fabricoflife.org" title="fabricoflife.org">fabricoflife.org</a>.
