THE MUSICIANS
BONGO LOVE – One of Zimbabwe’s hottest young performing groups has returned to the US for a bi-coastal tour in 2011. Bongo Love – Zimbabwean Afro-coustics style at its best – is taking the stage to launch their “Speak ZimLove” USA tour. These musicians represent the unheard voices of Zimbabwe and have won acclaim for their performances to audiences across the USA, Europe, southern and western Africa. Despite the oppression facing the arts and civic society in Zimbabwe, Bongo Love persists in their efforts to let music tell the story of their people. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bongolove
MBIRA DZEMUNINGA returns to the US with a vibrant new sound featuring Jacob Mafuleni, Tonderai Ndava, Peacheson Ngoshi and Martha Thom. The group promises the same deeply moving mbira music rooted in the deep traditions from the Nharira mountains of Zimbabwe. Alongside Mafuleni, Ndava and Ngoshi on mbira and percussion, Martha Thom brings a new energy to the ensemble with her energetic dancing, strong backing vocals and crisp hosho patterns. http://www.dzemuninga.com/
