September 2: Sankofa Fundraiser*
Fundraiser for Dana’a Platts at Dahlak from 8:30 pm – 12:30 am. Dana’a writes: “Come support, celebrate and wish me a farewell on my journey to reconnect with the homeland so that I may lend a hand to others when I return. There will be live African music and African food.”

September 4: Spirit of Ojah
World music from West Africa and America! The Spirit of Ojah Dance Band, led by legendary Ghanaian highlife drummer Roger Ocquaye, plays long harmonious waves of sound and rhythm inspiring people to get up and dance: jungle rhythm, soukous and highlife. http://www.myspace.org/spiritofojah

September 11: Atlantic Melody
High-energy pop music of Guinea, with a group led by Edward Souarez (Guinea), the best African trap-set drummer and vocalist this side of the Atlantic. Come prepared to dance!

September 18: Eckaman and Super Mokako
Dance to live Congolese soukous music with Super Mokako, featuring vocalist extraordinaire Eckaman. If you haven’t heard them, you’re in for a real treat; the group regularly has everyone on their feet!

September 25: Thione Diop and Yeke Yeke
Hot drummer Thione Diop is back from Senegal and ready to rock the house! His high-energy percussion group Yeke Yeke plays some of the best traditional African music in the Northwest. Be prepared to dance!
