African Music Nites in January

Happy New Year everyone! African Music Nites has been invited to Lucid Lounge in the U District, and we initiate a trial last-Friday-of-the-month series there on January 25th with Zimbabwean music from Mahonyera Mbira Ensemble. Lucid is a classy, intimate club that I think people will enjoy, especially North-enders. Meanwhile, we continue with monthly shows at The Royal Room Columbia City. Hope to see you one place or another! Claire

January 5, 2013: Sounds of Brazil with Eduardo Mendonça

Spicy Brazilian rhythms will reverberate in the Royal Room with this internationally acclaimed Brazilian artist. Show Brazil leader Eduardo Mendonça, vocalist, composer, percussionist, guitarist, and musical arranger, was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, and traces his lineage to a royal African family bearing the hereditary title of Mama-beka (“prophet of the royal court”). http://www.showbrazil.com/
