African Music Nites in February

February 8, 8:30 – 10:30: Leni Stern
Royal Room, 5000 Rainier Ave S

Guitarist and singer-songwriter Leni Stern recorded her 2012 CD Smoke, No Fire with traditional musicians in Mali, just as the political situation was being transformed in the midst of a coup and a rebellion to the north. Because of the political upheaval, Leni will be donating all proceeds of this concert to the Fabric of Life Foundation In Bamako, Mali: fabricoflife.org. Listen for Leni’s adept interweaving of jazz and griot rhythms with Bambara and English vocals.
