BKO Quintet from Bamako, Mali at Clock Out Lounge Sept 20

Hello African music lovers,
ALIA Prod, Crooked Trails/Sounds Over Seattle, and the Clock Out Lounge welcome the BKO Quintet from Bamako, Mali on their debut US tour:

When: Thursday, September 20 @ 8 PM
Where: Clock-Out Lounge, 4864 Beacon Ave. S. Seattle
Who: 21 and over
Tickets: $20 in advance, $25 at the door

BKO Quintet combines two distinct musical traditions of Mali into one seamless performance with an urban edge. The group was instigated by drummer Aymeric Krol and djembe player Ibrahima Sarr (Oumou Sangare). Aymeric credits Ibrahima with the idea to combine the sounds of the donsongoni (hunter’s harp) with the djelingoni (the harp of the griots). Breaking with centuries of tradition, BKO takes these two traditions and forges a new sound that speaks to modern day Mali.
